Ok so I was reading and I did a forum search about the VR app for smartphones.



The issue is that it is for phones running on droid.



So not something I can use currently. :(



But I have hope.



Cancer mentioned his phone runs on Windows Mobile. So if something is made, there is a chance he will most likely make it compatible with his own personal phone. Just a thought.



That would make it work for me because that is what my phone runs on.



And it would have VR tech support and help, not a random member. :D



Now to see if this ever happens.

If I didn't have the issue I had yesterday regarding the site, I'd be freaking out seeing Cancer in my last 10.



Glad to see he checked out the issue. Makes me happy to be on here.



But also glad to see that my ISP blows ass. :D



FYI. If you have Mediacom and they have one of the awesome net outages they are so famous for, and they manage to get it back up. Be warned the next day, shit won't work right.



I couldn't load VR up on any computer in the house. I could load it in the hours after the net outage. I woke up the next morning and nothing. Hardy har har.



Before hopping on my phone to freak out and send admins a message (because I know when an Acolyte can help ya and can't help ya) I did a few normal trouble shooting issues.



The first one was going to isup.me. I got this lovely message. "It's just you. http://vampirerave.com is up."



Second thing I did was clear cache and cookies. I then restarted my computer and power cycled my router for good measure.



Then I checked a different browser. After checking the laptop and the downstairs computer, I decided to check my phone.



During all of this, I knew VR itself was up thanks to isup.me. After being able to access it just fine from my phone, I deduced it was either an IP issue from the site end or the ISP end.



Something I know Acolytes can't check.





Point of this entry? Before running off to admins, try some troubleshooting. The steps are also in the manual, they are also basic internet things to know.



After gaming online for so long, I have learned that clearing cache can solve some of the biggest issues that can pop up. It's pathetic, but it works a lot of the time. xD



Anyways, my ISP sucks. I have a new computer on the way. And...I had a great day at work. :)

It was my ISP switching something around. What fixed it? I have no idea. I came back later in the afternoon and it worked.

We all have those moments, even with friends... heck I can tell you on one instance where I had to log off due to a conversation with Imagesinwords. I don't even remember what she was saying- as it wasn't the problem. I was simply worked up and needed to get it OUT of my system.

I think the information can be updated, that's an obvious, but the images... Well those need to stay the way they are, in my opinion. I love them. When Bones introduced me into the House I was excited. I loved the fact that here was a well thought out, extremely organized House...



... And I don't want it to change.



We have had enough chances... Rat is no longer our's (we'll she is, always will be :P) and Birdy is no longer Birdy (same with her, she's stuck to glue with us as well) but are both under different user names now in the House...



That is about all I can take for changes at this point.

On the aspect of what I've read around here about Christmas and what happened.



If members here did NOT receive cards from me, then I'm sorry. My local post office sucks.



Seriously. My mother sent me a card two weeks ago and I haven't gotten it.



Half the time, my mail is ripped open. And my mother didn't even get the card I sent her until after Christmas.



I didn't think I would ever have to explain this since I always thought the season of Christmas was about giving. Not receiving. I spent about 60 dollars on cards and postage. I sent those bitches out.



I can't control what happens after I stick them in that little slot downtown. >.>

Oh honey I don't care, this was the first year I sent cards out even to family. I was happy to do it too. The gift exchange was honestly way worse for people than the card list and there was some discussion over doing something even more involved next year. I want to touch on something that I'm very knowledgeable in and how it affects Vampire Rave.



Copyrighted images and the Admins here.



Every piece of art is considered copyrighted unless stated. Most images you find online are not free to use images or able to be used on profiles and such.



The admins of VR can not police copyrights and who has permission and who does not. There is a page called the DMCA Policy here on VR. It's at the bottom of every single page on classic layouts. That is what deals with copyrights. Not VR Administrators.



It states there that it is expected of members to be compliant with copyright laws, but obviously many on here are not. To be honest, a great majority are not.



That brings me to my next point. Any image you find online that may be cute, sexy, adorable, or whatever, carries a copyright. If you don't have permission to use that image or don't have a license to use that image, you can't. It is called copyright infringement. I see it constantly because I go through profiles and pick out art by my favorite artists and KNOW that it's being used illegally.



Many artists are ok with allowing you to use their work if you email them and give them credit. It's not that hard to ask and saves you trouble.



If you do get caught infringing copyright usage laws, you can be fined.



Now, you want to know how do I know all of this? Because I volunteer my time for a licensing company. A licensing company works with artists to sell licenses to hobbyists to create graphics with the artwork. We have to police this crap very very hard. Every single licensing company gives you a number you have to use on your images. You have to add the artist information. There are rules.



If you see art of a friends being used without permission, the proper thing to do is to let your friend know and give them the link to the DMCA page so they can follow through. You can contact a VR admin if you want, but the best route to take is the legal route from the start. This is a big website and it helps to prove the copyrights from the get go.

I seriously didn't think last night's tag thing was going to go over so well.

First I need to finish something I promised to get done last weekend. I have a date with some tentacles and creatures of the dark deep waters for a friend. The tag I offered last night I made like two weeks ago on CM for a challenge so I didn't have to do much for it. lol

So in regards to my last entry, I felt I have to explain the panda thing a bit.

I met him online in a video game we both play. I play a fairy. He plays well...a drunken panda.



So I have now decided to showcase art and screens of us together in game. :D

The last one I have to explain a bit. It's a picture a good friend drew for a fan art contest for the game. It has my character swinging the giant hammer (XD!) and a bunch of guildies involved. She asked random members of the community to contribute screenshots and it seemed that no one but people from our guild wanted art done. So the all black thing is Sydney, the panda in the back is my boyfriend, the archer is a girl from guild named Mary and the thing going all ninja like is a genderbender named Albin. All cool peeps. Possibly my favorite picture :D

That was rather fun and entertaining. Some conversations between myself and the boyfriend while I rate whelpy profiles.



Me: Ugh, this one is getting a 7 at least. Fricken pop ups and the coding is crap for a PM.



BF: But it has wolves! It should get a 10 for wolves.



Me: But the pop ups bug the shit outta me. 7.

Something that bugs me in the PSP community.



Licensing companies that don't include the artist url with the tube.



Seriously. It's not that hard to add a little layer to the 5 layers already there with the url so I can have it there while I have the damn program open.



But no. You have to disrupt shit.



I'm sitting there. Going about my normal tagging business. In this case, making the header for my next layout, and I go to reopen one of the tubes so that I can add that final touch since I don't know that information for this artist off the top of my head. And guess what? It's not there. So here I am, on this new site because one company closed last night. Trying to find the list of artists and their websites that we have to use to credit. Come to find out it was on that websites blog.



Fucking seriously? Just add that shit to the image that you are charging me an extra 35 cents to download now.



You'd think that I could just google the artist and use the sites that pop up right? I can't. Some artists have multiple sites and we can only use the one the license company says to use as our credit. Thank god Ismael Rac (who sells independently) allows us to use either of his websites. But that one doesn't matter. His information is in the huge ass watermark layer on his tubes and I have it memorized.



I found it finally. I ended up messaging a friend on msn who tags and she knew it. I figured she would, she works with her a lot. So the header is done, and I'm pooped. I made a smaller version for CM and tagged it up.



I like it so far. Still have the rest of the profile to do. :D

So I downloaded a couple of older scrap kits that are freebies from Artmama. I like the darker colors in them since they compliment the tubes I purchased for the profile nicely. Though, I may pop over and buy a few Zindy tubes so that I can have an excuse to buy her new V-Day scrap kit. heh



Over on CM we got permission to use Masumi Max's photographs for tags. It makes me want to ask a couple of photographers here similar permissions. I just don't have the balls to do it. And I also suck at tubing images and I'm terrified of letting someone else tube them and the tubes getting in the hands of the wrong people and the art getting disrespected. In the PSP community, this is highly likely to happen. There be some people out there that just don't care. I just see a certain image and I want to create a tag with it. It's the colors and the pose.



*sigh*



So much to do with my niche in the PSP community right now anyways. We have the new store trying to lift off right now. Trying to find artists to sell tubes being the hardest part. And the fact that the store owner is on at like 3 am doesn't help me very much.



*yawn* Guess time to suck it up a bit.

Not sure on scrap kit usage. I most likely will either go with something Artmama has made or some bits and pieces of my own CU items I have purchased to make scrap kits.



But it will be different. No more flashing skulls. No more Scroll boxes. No more bright colors and stand offishness.



I'm gonna show the softer side of me for a little bit. :o



Ok. Maybe there will still be a scroll box. xD
